For Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 1/2 Cups All-purpose Flour (7.4 oz.)
  • 1 1/2 Cups White Granulated Sugar, (11.1 oz.)
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, (1.7 oz.)
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 3/4 Cup Boiling Water mixed with 2 Teaspoons Instant Coffee Powder

For Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 8 Oz. Dark Chocolate Chips

  • Electric Hand Mixer
  • Non-stick Cooking Oil Spray
  • Parchment Paper

  • Small Saucepan

Preparation Instructions

For Chocolate Cake:

  1. Preheat your microwave to 350°F.
  2. Lightly spritz the non-stick cooking oil spray on the 8 inch round cake pan and spread a parchment paper on its base.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder into a large mixing bowl and whisk them well.
  4. Now, pour egg, vanilla, milk, and oil into the previously prepared flour mixture and beat them using an electric mixer at medium speed for 30-45 seconds. Add boiling water (with the coffee) in this mixture and mix until it looks glossy and becomes thin in consistency.
  5. Empty the prepared batter into the 8-inch pan.
  6. Put the pan into the oven and bake it for 50-55 minutes or until the inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once the cake is baked, take it out from the microwave and let the cake cool down for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Then, transfer the cake from the pan to the cooling rack to let it cool completely before frosting.

For Chocolate Ganache:

  1. Pour cream and chocolate chips into a small saucepan.
  2. Put in on the stove and set it at low heat, until the mixture becomes hot. Make sure you don’t boil or simmer it.
  3. Once it’s boiled, remove the saucepan from the stove and let it cool down for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Now, empty the mixture into a bowl and stir it slowly with a spatula or a whisk, then gradually increase the speed, until you get a creamy and smooth ganache.
  5. Put it into the refrigerator for 1-2 hours to get a thick consistency.
  6. Now, spread the ganache on the cake evenly.
